Informational Video About AI

Video Brief

The digital media context I chose is AI. I was looking forward to making an informational video and help others know more about AI. My intended audience for this video is someone that may have heard the name of AI before, but do not know what it actually is, and someone interests in the topic. Their age group should be between 15-24, audience in this age group prefers short and attention-grabbing videos. As this is an informational video, I have found some examples with similar topic on YouTube. Compare with short films, informational video contains less camerawork, interplay and story, so I have paid more attention on contents of the video.

The objective of my video is expository. Due to its short length, this is just a simple introduction of AI and some of its applications in real life. In the end of my video, my call-to-action is to make audience think about other AI applications they heard or experienced.

Writing Reflection

I planned to make three part of contents for this video. The first part is a short introduction of the concept of AI, followed by a more detailed introduction in development of AI and related people. In the third part, I will find some examples of AI application in real life. As it is an informational video, I also added intro in the beginning and call-to-action part in the end as well as the credits in Harvard style. Before shooting the video, I have come up with the video brief and adjusted my draft several times.

When finding source material, I used Deakin University Library online database to find the academic resource. For images used in video, I used Creative Commons website to search for image that have the CC license and can be referenced. For the applications of AI part, I included my screen recordings to help audience to feel involved. Also, I inserted related images when I talked about relevant contents, to make the video more interesting. I have chosen medium shot and eye level when shooting the video. As in my first YouTube video, I found the time and position with abundant light to shoot and arranged the objects in the background. I tried to talk straight to the camera and including some gestures to interact with the audience. As the main body of the audio in this video is my voice, I tried to find some light music which will not be conflicting. I found some creative commons music I used before in podcast, but it turns out that they are not living up to my expectation.

I planned to complete the editing of video several days before the due date, but then I found my Premiere Pro and Creative Cloud cannot open normally. I have reinstalled and found the problem with Premiere Pro was still there, so it costed me sometime to find a video processing programme to take place. The other problem I faced when making the video is the speed of my speech and the clarity of my voice, I have recorded several times to select the best one.
